A Somethin' Salvaged Store? You BETCHA!



I am excited to announce that Somethin' Salvaged has a home at 115 South Greenwood Street in Shoshone, Idaho!!!!

Life has been busy.  In fact I can't believe it was just a couple of months ago that a discussion about opening a store to sell my repurposed items arose.  It was something I thought may happen when I was older, near retirement age perhaps.  Whoever would have imagined that it could happen so quickly?  Julia Oxarango-Ingram...that's who!! 

I met Julia around Thanksgiving time, when I unknowingly crashed the Habitat for Humanity ReStore.  See I thought it was Wednesday and that they were open when I just waltzed in the building like I owned it.  In reality it was Tuesday, and they were not open, but she let me shop anyway.  I asked if the store needed volunteers, and proceeded to tell Julia about my love of repurposing items.  She thought it would be a great idea if I would like to help people see some new uses for items donated to the store, and so our friendship began!

Near the end of February I began helping Julia restore her 100 year old home in Shoshone.  As we worked side by side she had some wonderful ideas about how to rejuvenate the local downtown buildings and businesses.  AND the important part, she had all the right connections!   Next thing I knew we were planning to open a store!!!

There are 4 of us on this adventure.

Things seem to be falling into place, and they happen when they need to happen.  It is amazing how many times an idea pops into our heads, and then the road opens up and we are taken to that vision through the help of friends, who out of the kindness of their heart, want to help us.

This is my good friend Peter Page who is an incredible artist. He designed the new logo and painted the sign. Can't wait to pay him by taking him out for a nice dinner. It's a win win for me!

 Then there is Tom Kinney who stops by with his tool belt to lend Bill a hand where needed.  Thanks Tom!

Our store is an old gas station.  How cool is that?  Seems appropriate for someone who loves to

repurpose things!  The location is perfect and there are several HUGE windows to intrigue people to stop in and see what is inside.

We are steadily working in preparation for our GRAND OPENING on May 18th and 19th.  Stay tuned and we will keep you updated on that...I promise to have more photos and to show you some special one of a kind creations I have come up with for our special day.
